Possibly the most important factor in a person's advancement is his / her family. Loved ones can shape some a person's thoughts and may make hard for a person to fit in one's environment. In the novel Ceremony simply by Leslie Marmon Silko, Tayo's auntie can be an antagonistic woman who may be concerned about other's judgment toward her and her relatives. Her malicious behavior jumped from her low self-esteem and the anger she reproached because her sister's unmanageable actions. One of the most evident emotional problem Tayo's Auntie is usually dealing with can be her deficiency of self-esteem. This is brought after by her siblings' disappointing choices. Her siblings' helped bring shame towards the family and the main cause for this sort of disgrace was Auntie's sister's humiliating habit. Tayo's mother's promiscuity dishonored the family members, but it took a greater toll on Auntie; " So Auntie provides tried anxiously to get back together the family with the people; the old instinct had always been to gather the feelings and views that were scattered through the village, to gather all of them like willow twigs and tie all of them into a single plea bundle that would bring peace to all of them” (69). Auntie caused it to be her work to mend and protect the family brand. She started to be extremely aware about what the town people had to say regarding her family. Auntie was worried about her family's activities because their actions had been a reflection on the whole family and that included her.
